Damian Blen is a former coach of the Cuban National Junior Team who also played for the National Team and several U.S. professionals team. He is a qualified and professional coach who holds a Master Degree in Physical Education And Sport from the University of Havana (Faculty of Physical Education and Sport), one of the most prestigious academic institutions for sport and recreation.
In addition, Damian received a Sport Specialization Certificate in Baseball from University of Havana. He has dedicated more than a decade to working with young athletes.
In 1994 he was hired as an Infield Instructor and Third Base Coach for Team
Havana’s Juvenile Club, which finished in second place in Cuba’s National
Championship. As a result of his impressive work, Damian was promoted to Chief
Technical Supervisor of Baseball Development for Havana’s Juvenile Category.
Furthermore, he was appointed to the Cuban Junior National Team coaching staff.
In 1995 Damian became the Head Coach for Team Havana Juveniles, which placed
second at the National Championships of 1996 and earned him numerous prestigious awards. In 1997 Damian led his team to a Cuban National Championship and was honored with the coveted Coach of the Year Award.
Damian was also an integral member the coaching staff that led the Cuban Junior
National Team to consecutive World Championships Gold Medals, two Central American Baseball Games Gold Medals and a PAN AM Games Gold Medal.
As a player, Damian was a member of the Cuban National Team and has played
professional baseball in the United States.
Damian Blen has contributed to the development of baseball throughout the GTA
by working with teams, and specifically, several players that have gone to play
college ball in the US. Damian also contributed his knowledge and energetic
enthusiasm to the professional Canadian Baseball League where he worked as a
coach for the Niagara Stars.
